Conference on Emergency Response to oil spills: Regional approaches in a transnational framework of EROCIPS, was held at the Centro Social CAIXANOVA, in Vigo on the 14th and 15th June 2007. This conference was the 2nd conference hosted by the EU-funded EROCIPS Project Partners.

The conference was attended by organisations and companies responding to marine pollution, Spanish and Portuguese stakeholders as well as EROCIPS Project Partners from the UK, France, Spain and Portugal.

During the conference, speakers from different EU regions presented and discussed the current response to oil spills on the Atlantic coast. The conference presenters also illustrated the most relevant results and outputs of the EROCIPS Project, such as the latest tools, guidelines and protocols developed by the Project Partners, all of which are available for public use on the results page.

The programme for the day included presentations on:

• Contingency plans
• Risk analysis and vulnerability
• Response support tools: modelling, sensitivity mapping, etc.
• Response operations: shoreline clean up, waste management, etc.
• Environmental monitoring
• Training
• Crisis management
