The EROCIPS Project (Emergency Response to coastal Oil Chemical and Inert pollution from Shipping) Final Conference was held at the Lifeboat College in Poole, UK on the 6th & 7th September 2007. The free event gave participants the opportunity to learn about the methodologies, tools and guidelines developed over the last three years of the EU-funded EROCIPS Project direct from Project Partners.
The conference covered a wide range of topical issues including risk assessment and waste management, guidance on managing volunteers, training packages, pollution trajectory forecasting, management information systems and environmental monitoring. The conference gave delegates not only a chance to learn from the many presentation and workshops delivered by the Project Partners, each of whom has expertise in a different aspect of counter pollution work, but it also provided an opportunity for networking to inspire those working in the field of counter pollution and to strengthen our current response capacity. In addition to the presentations and exhibitions at the conference, there were more informal, interactive demonstrations of some of the EROCIPS outputs.
