The EROCIPS Project Final Conference was held at the Lifeboat College in Poole, UK on the 6th & 7th September 2007. The free event gave participants the opportunity to learn about the methodologies, tools and guidelines developed over the last three years of the EU-funded EROCIPS Project direct from Project Partners.
As the EROCIPS Project comes to a close Partners are working to draw up a framework for a future project to further strenghten the shoreline response to pollution from shipping. The outline objectives of this proposal include:
Current Partner CETMAR is leading the proposal development process and it is expected that a formal Project proposal will be submitted to the Secretariat in the spring 2008.
EROCIPS Summary Booklet & CD
Partners from along the Atlantic Coast of Europe have worked together, using their experience and expertise, to develop a common understanding of risks faced and to produce protocols, tools and guidance material to improve existing coastal pollution response plans. To sum up all the work carried out by the EROCIPS Project Partners we have produced a Summary Booklet and a CD of all the Project outputs. These resources are FREE for emergency planners and responders. Please contact erocips@devon.gov.uk for your copy of the Summary Booklet and CD, alternatively, you can download below the project summary booklets in each of the project languages and access the final outputs online on the results pages.

October 2007 marked the end of the 3 year EROCIPS Project. The Project Partners were proud to present the tools and progress developed through EROCIPS at our final conference in Poole in September 2007. It was a very encouraging conference, with wide ranging support for the outputs and recognition of their potential to strengthen the response to coastal pollution. There was also discussion about how best to develop and build on the EROCIPS outputs in the future so watch this space!
The delivery of the Project outputs snowballed over the last months of the Project, culminating in the production of the EROCIPS Final Outputs CD, available as above. Our Project final
Newsletter October 2007 (1.94MB - pdf help) also lists the activities undertaken by our partners over the last quarter.
As with the end of any Project, the EROCIPS Project Management Team has now also moved on to other responsibilities. Mel and Heli would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated with the EROCIPS Project and to wish everyone all the best for the future. Should you have any questions about the EROCIPS Project please e-mail melanie.parker@devon.gov.uk
